Read And Review

*Sigh* Do I like challenging myself ?OR

Am I just wasting my time?

Anyway, I challenged myself to review a book. I am now reviewing a book I read recently.

Reading is something that I always wanted to be a part of my run of the mill life. But never actually took any step to make it happen. I had some self help ebooks on my tbr(to be read) however never read. You know , the actual book is streets ahead of any digital copy.

So after procastinating reading for months and eventually buying a book .

Here I am reviewing this book titled 'THE SUBTLE ART OF NOT GIVING A F*CK' by Mark Manson. The title got my attention instantly and got myself buy the book, appealing the most.

The author of the book wrote to us that giving less fucks about anything can guide us to contented life.

Problems are envitable in life. Author advises us to give better fucks as to have better problems. Once we accept our true self with all the flaws , we will be actually free. Author argues that staying positive all the time is basically perpetuating the problems. Author expects us to shift the metrics/values by which we judge ourselves.

Happiness is not algorithmic!!

i.e If I achieve X , then I can be happy. If I get X then I can be happy.

The more you embrace being uncertain and not knowing the more comfortable you will feel in knowing what you don't know.

If it seems you vs the world ,its probably you vs yourself.

These lines were the most eye opening for me.

While reading a chapter of this book , I came across a paragraph which reminds me of Saint Kabir's doha

निंदक नेड़ा राखिये , आँगणि कुटी बँधाइ।

बिन साबण पाँणीं बिना , निरमल करै सुभाइ।।

Translated as

‘Keep your critiques close to you, let their hut be in your courtyard, that way you don’t need soap and water to cleanse your nature’.

This book helps me comprehend how limit/commitment is the only way to be free. This self help guide gives us an absolute reality check with many interesting stories explaining  author's ideas. This book somehow lost my attention at some point.

Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who want to question the beliefs and the values of life and change the view for happy life. The blunt remark of author makes this book more realistic and worth reading.

The review may not be the top-notch review but I tried my level best.

Thank you for giving time to read this review blog!
